A glimpse of Laos

DAY 1:  Luang Prabang

You will be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to your hotel.The crown jewel of Laos and former Lanexang (Land of a Million Elephants), Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. Magical and charming, it has preserved its long-standing reputation as a stronghold of Lao culture with its splendid natural scenery and sense of timelessness. In 1995 UNESCO voted Luang Prabang as a World Heritage City.Overnight Luang Prang hotel.

DAY 2:  Luang Prabang

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then your guide will pick you up for  a day of exploring the city. Visit the former royal palace now housing memorabilia of Lao kings. See Luang Prabang’s icon, the Pra Bang Buddha, housed in a separate locked room of its own. Once a year on the Lunar new year, the Pra Bang is taken out in procession around the town.Continue to Vat Visoun, the site of an impressive stupa, That Makmo, then walk to the nearby Vat Aham, which is one of the city’s major tutelary shrines. Continue to visit Vat Mai, built in 1796, famous for the five-tiered roof built in the standard of Luang Prabang style.After lunch, visit Vat Xieng Thong, considered the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang.  Then you  board a traditional riverboat for a trip up the Mekong River to visit the famous caves of Pak Ou, housing thousands of Buddha statues placed there by devotees over the centuries.Overnight  Luang Prabang Hotel.

DAY 3:  Luang Prabang

Today you enjoy a safari by elephant back.  Village visit and soft hiking into amazing countryside to Khamu minority village and the Tad Sae waterfall.  Stunning landscape, and lush nature give you a relaxed stay on the back of the protected elephant. You will make your way through small forests and along the Nam Khan River near the Tad Sae waterfalls. At the waterfall or the river you can do some swimming and bathing in the refreshing cool waterReturn to your hotel in the late afternoon, and you are free to do your own exploration of Luang Prabang by revisiting a couple of the temples you have seen, or explore more places on foot in the city centre. Perhaps a Lao herbal sauna and massage in the little sauna places your guide can point out to you beforehand. Enjoy the roadside coffee-and pastry cafes and look into the small boutiques along the main road.Overnight at Luang Prabang Hotel.

DAY 4:  Luang Prabang

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure to soak in the culture of the town.Overnight at  Luang Prabang Hotel.DAY 5: Vientiane                                                              Transfer to the airport for your flight Luang Prabang. Upon arrival into Vientiane you will be met and transferred to your hotel.Overnight Vientiane.

DAY 6:  Vientiane

Morning tour of Vientiane to include Haw Pha Kaeo, Wat Si Saket, Wat That Luang, the Victory Gate and other sights.  Lunch in a local restaurant, then an afternoon tour to Buddha Park in Tha Deua.  Return to Vientiane and to your hotel in the late afternoon.Overnight Vientiane.

DAY 7: Vientiane - Departure  

Breakfast at the hotel. Free until time to transfer to the airport for your departure.Extend your stay in Lao and visit the Plain or Jars or perhaps carry on to experience more of Indochina – just ask us.
