Amazon Experience

Day 1

You will transfer from your hotel in Bogota to the airport for the Amazon border town of Leticia.
Drive to the edge of the jungle & then hike through the jungle for approx 40 minutes to the natural reserve Tanimboca where you will spend the night in huts built in the branches of trees.
An introduction to Amazonas
The Colombian Amazon forms part of the largest Eco-system on the planet. More than one third of the worlds species live in the Amazon rainforest, a giant tropical forest and river basin with an area that stretches more than 5,400,000 sq km. The River Amazon runs through the Amazon jungle and is a lifeline for so many species and humans alike.

Day 2

Explore Tanimboca Jungle Reserve. Awaking after your first night in the Amazon Jungle you will visit the Serpentario where you will be able to observe a variety of snakes, lizards and frogs that are indigenous to the Colombian Amazon, such as the Anaconda, Large Black Caiman and the tiny, brilliantly coloured, but poisonous, arrow frog. The river Tacana is located close by and is perfect for a refreshing swim before returning to the tree houses and lunch.  Later in the afternoon you will travel back to Leticia and overnight in hotel.

Day 3

Marasha Natural Reserve, Peru

After breakfast your guide will take you on a boat ride across the Amazon River to the beautiful Marasha Natural Reserve located in the neighbouring country of Peru. On disembarking in Peru you will either continue by foot for a 45 minute walk to reach the reserve. You have the opportunity to wonder though the jungle, explore local rivers by canoe and see the monkeys and other animal.
Overnight in this beautiful setting where the accommodation is rustic with simple beds, mosquito nets and cold water showers.

Day 4

River Amazon & Puerto Narino
Today you will board your private boat and travel 80 kilometres up stream on the River Amazon to the Colombian town of Puerto Nariño. Located on the River Loretoyacu, a tributary of the Amazon, and is a very peaceful community where there is no motorised transport and electricity supply is limited. This beautiful day ends with a late afternoon boat ride on Lake Tarapoto with an opportunity to see the famous pink Amazonian River Dolphins

Day 5

After breakfast you will depart early by boat from Puerto Nariño back along the Amazon to Leticia where you will have some free time before your transfer to the airport and your return flight to Bogota.
